Leads a team of commissioning technicians for material handling automation projects involving a wide variety of equipment, machines, controls, and technologies and ranging in value from $50,000 to $20 million.


  • Working with the project team and project manager, plans and executes commissioning of material handling equipment projects involving structures, conveyor, machinery, and controls
  • Manages the work of a team of commissioning technicians and works hands-on as needed; team members may be in multiple locations
  • Manages financial performance of the project commissioning, working with the project manager on costs
  • Creates and maintains commissioning plans and schedules
  • Works with the project teams to create test plans for system commissioning and customer acceptance
  • Provides verbal and written project updates on commissioning projects, including deliverables, issues, and risks
  • Travels up to 80%


  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Operations Management or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience with team leadership in mechanical and electrical commissioning in the material handling industry
  • Knowledge of materials handling, warehouse management systems (WMS), fulfillment or distribution center operations, and supply chain logistics
  • Knowledge of automation projects involving machines, robotics, controls, and software
  • Knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Understanding of the project management process
  • Ability to lead work teams and projects effectively
  • Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced results-oriented environment
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and listening skills
  • Strong organization and collaborative skills
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings as required, particularly during project go-live events
