    Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The EH&S Manager provides technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support for all of ELS's various facilities, departments, on regulatory compliance issues in Safety and Health for Elite Line Services, Inc.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Reports to top management on the safety system’s performance and makes recommendations for needed improvements.
    • Develop, review and revise Safety policies in compliance with changing or new regulations.
    • Develop the overall strategy of continuous improvement for ELS's Health and Safety Initiatives.
    • Keep Management informed of any changes in regulations.
    • Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning safety related data.
    • Prepare and follow budget for Safety department.
    • Counsel and assist management with safety related prevention and/or concerns.
    • Develop, review and revise Safety prevention and reward programs.
    • Safety contact point for outside organizations, including customers and third parties.
    • Analyze all incidents to put in place steps to prevent future occurrence.
    • Visits worksites to ensure compliance with State/Federal regulatory requirements and corporate program initiatives.
    • Utilize outside resources in order to monitor issues and concerns in OSHA regulations and communicate potential changes to senior management.
    • Report recordable and/or other serious injuries to Daifuku Japan.
    • Compliance with ELS safety program policies and procedures in contracts.
    • Maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the employer’s insurance policy.
    • Perform additional duties/assignments as may be required by management.

    Qualifications

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor´s Degree in Safety Management, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Basic or Applied Science, Environmental Science, or any other related subject.
    • 3+ years’ leadership/managerial experience within the Health and Safety function.
    • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office
    • 3+ years’ experience in conducting training in a classroom environment.
    • 3+ years’ experience working in a multi-state environment.
    • Knowledge of baggage handling, ground support equipment and passenger boarding bridge maintenance activities.
    • Ability to travel in excess of 25% of the time.
    • Ability to establish priorities in a changing environment

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 5+ years’ experience in leadership/managerial experience within the Health and Safety function.
    • 5+ years’ experience in conducting training in a classroom environment.
    • 5+ years’ experience working in a multi-state environment.
    • 3+ years’ experience working with baggage handling, ground support equipment and passenger boarding bridge maintenance activities.

    Other Physical Requirements:

    • Vision (Near, Distance)
    • Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each
    • Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
    • Occasionally push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during site visits
    • Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists
    • Walking in the FC and around area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length
    • Ability to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation
    • Ability to work in construction /distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, not air-conditioned
    • Continual standing and/or walking an average of 5 miles daily
    • Able to access all areas of building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, etc.)

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Varies between an office environment as well as all areas located in a distribution center. May be around dust, dirt and noise levels above OSHA minimum requirements. Use of PPE required.
