Responsibilities

The primary goal is satisfying customer requirements of quality, quantity, and delivery, in a safe manner, while maximizing productivity. Specifically, the Quality Control Technician is responsible for all job activities required to support production processes. These activities include but are not limited to: Maintaining quality standards by inspecting and approving product in the prefabrication and fabrication areas and recording quality results; Ensuring that the appropriate processes and proper equipment, tools, materials, tests, inspections, clean up, and quality standards are employed at all times. 

Other responsibilities 

 

  • Perform first piece and/or fixture inspection prior to and after welding to assure that the fabrication process is capable of meeting requirements and record results. 
  • Perform periodic inspection after welding to assure that the fabrication process is consistent and record results. 
  • Perform periodic inspection of prefabrication activities to assure that the prefabrication processes are being performed correctly and report results. 
  • Perform periodic inspection of completed kits from prefabrication department that the kits are complete and report results. 
  • Function as a liaison between the prefabrication and fabrication areas and engineering to resolve misunderstood, unclear or incorrect information on drawings and report results. 
  • Operate the FARO arm to perform inspection on weldments, fixtures, jigs and completed product as required. 
  • Maintain the DAC gage calibration system. 
  • Completes all work in a manner consistent with the company’s quality system and regulations 
  • Keep work area clean and orderly at all times 
  • Follows all plant safety guidelines, practices and procedures. Also, be aware of activity in the work surroundings and maintain a clean and safe work area  
  • Properly use personal protective equipment when required 
  • Maintain regular attendance – have reliable means of transportation 
  • Perform other tasks as assigned 
  • Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching and twisting throughout shift 
  • Capable of repetitively lifting 25-50 lbs.  
  • Candidates must be flexible to work overtime as needed, which may include weekends and/or holidays 

 

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, wiring schematics, blueprints and procedure manual 
  • Familiarity with measuring equipment and calibration requirements. 
  • Familiar with mechanical measurement methods including coordinate measuring machines. 
  • Basic computer skills and SAP knowledge preferred 
  • Forklifts and Overhead crane experience preferred (in-house training available) 
  • Proven problem-solving abilities 
  • Must be adaptable to change  
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test 
  • Team player - must be able to work with others  
  • Must have and maintain a high sense of urgency to meet and exceed all production goals  
  • Attentive to detail watching for material defects and any quality issues 
  • Must be able to prioritize activities with minimal supervision 

 

Education and Experience 

Prior manufacturing experience is highly preferred including welding and or material processing. Any technical or vocational education/training in relation to skills listed below is also desirable. 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • A minimum of three (5) years of experience in manufacturing /quality
