Sales Engineer

Daifuku Automotive America Corporation is a leader in Design, Manufacturing, Installation and Support of automotive automation/material handling systems in North America. The company is currently seeking an experienced Sales Engineer - Ford with 5-10 years of experience selling large Capex projects to Automotive OEMs and tier-one automotive suppliers. Preferably with a history of selling into Ford Motor Company. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of material handling, conveyance, robotics, and AGV solutions in the automotive marketplace for the facility in Novi, MI.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Account Management: Develop and grow assigned accounts and attract new relevant accounts. Develop relationships with key decision-makers in purchasing, engineering, and plant operations.
  • Client-Centric Sales: Showcase and propose relevant solutions from the Daifuku Automotive portfolio to support clients' strategic goals. Build and nurture credible relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Technical Presentations: Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers and prospective clients.
  • Bid Management: Lead and support responses to large RFPs/RFQs, improving Daifuku’s success rate in winning large bids.
  • Customer Engagement: Conduct job walks, review job sites, and assess equipment needs. Explain cost reductions and operational improvements to gain customer acceptance.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work with internal stakeholders (Marketing, Sales, Estimating and Operations) to develop products and service solutions that meet clients' strategic needs. Develop pricing, create proposals, and negotiate contracts. Collaborate with estimating and strategic suppliers.
  • Performance Tracking: Perform tasks according to established KPIs related to sales, revenue, and gross margin.
  • New Product Development: Identify opportunities within accounts for co-creation and innovation, coordinating product initiatives with Daifuku’s overall strategy.
  • Proposal development: Strong engineering background in conveyor solutions is a must. Ability to draft comprehensive proposals to ensure scope of supply. Proposal should present and include the estimate content and meet all customer RFQ needs.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, professional publications, and networking.
  • Travel and Flexibility: This is a hybrid position (3 days in the office, 2 days home office). Travel to visit clients as required, up to 50% of the time.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or a relevant field, preferably in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: 5-10 years in Automotive OEM or Tier 1 Capex sales. Experience leading global/international complex enterprise and strategic accounts.
  • Skills:
    • Problem-solving and analysis
    • Product knowledge and development
    • Technical understanding and proficiency with Salesforce.com
    • Presentation and verbal communication
    • Experience in estimating and project management.
    • Ability to travel nationally and internationally, and work in a team environment.
