Position Overview:

  

The Inventory Manager manages the Inventory Control team, ensuring efficient and accurate inventory processes and leading activities such as physical inventory, standards setting, and variance reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the Inventory Control team, including recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures
  • Assigns duties, gives verbal and written instructions, and reviews work for conformance to quality and safety standards
  • Monitors sales and inventory levels to ensure accurate forecasts; compares sales forecasts to results and adjusts orders as needed
  • Places regular and special orders with key vendors and prepares purchase orders
  • Negotiates price and delivery dates with vendors; reconciles invoice discrepancies
  • Maintains inventory database, ensuring data is accurate and timely
  • Develops and reports on department metrics, analyzing variances and recommending improvements
  • Works with other managers to ensure coordination of inventory operations, production, shipping, and quality assurance
  • Serves on the Safety Committee; recommends new and revised procedures to improve efficiency and safety

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing an inventory operation
  • Excellent management skills for directing, coaching, scheduling, and assisting team members
  • Technical orientation with ability to learn new technologies
  • Computer skills including MS Office
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
